130th Year Anniversary

July 21, 2024

This year Church of the Magdalene parish is celebrating the 130th anniversary of its founding. Planned events include a special Mass on Sunday July 21st (11 am), which will be concelebrated with prior pastors as well as other priests that have been associated with the Magdalene over the years.

This will be followed by a celebratory lunch during which Sister Susan Gardella, RSHM, will speak on the long history the parish has shared with the Religious of the Sacred Heart (Marymount).

Also, on Sundays, July 7th, August 18th, September 8th and October 13th, the Pastor Fr. Tim Wiggins will say “Mass on the Grass” during the 9 & 11 am Masses. These Masses will take place next to the church building.

Mr. John Dominick, Church of the Magdalene’s very capable and accomplished Music Director, will coordinate the music program for the Mass, as he does for each Sunday.

The Church of the Magdalene is a small country church located in Pocantico Hills, Tarrytown. It draws its parishioners from over 40 zip codes in Westchester and beyond. Roads leading to the hamlet pass by rolling fields protected by stone walls. A handful of homes, large and small, a school, two churches, and a firehouse are located in the center of the village. The white frame country church stands in the midst of a community of homes surrounded by the large acreage of the Rockefeller homes and estates. The Union Church is located nearby.
